When will the human race become vegan?
Friday, January 27th, 2012I believe one day all humans will become vegan. But when? Only then will we become a more concious and ethical society. What are your thoughts on when this might happen?
Highly unlikely. Although a world without slaughter houses would be great.
Do Vegans really have an effect on society?
Tuesday, January 24th, 2012I know some people are vegan for other reasons, like religion ect, but for the people who are vegan soley for the purpose of being against the cruel treatment of animals and such. Does this stand effect the food patterns or sale of meat products in any way? In other words, are there enough vegans to signifigantly reduce meat product sales?
"effect on society." That’s hard to answer. Do they have any effect on meat production? No. The meat industry is a world wide industry. We import meat, we export meat. Russia probably eats more American chicken than people in the US. We have tens of thousands of acres of land in New Mexico, Montana, Texas that are not suitable for farming. It’s too hot, too cold, too high, too dry, too wet….whatever. But cattle are very adaptable and can be raised on that land. Because they’re ruminants, they can eat almost anything and do eat a lot of byproducts of human food production (corn cobs and husks, bad potato chips, cotton seeds, soy meal and on and on).
Vegans tend to be wealthy, white girls. If not wealthy, they do have a lot of disposable income. They seem to be susceptible to animal rights propaganda and have very limited knowledge about how their own food is produced. There are enough of them apparently that the big agri businesses have bought out business that produce products for vegans, like Boca Burger (produced by Kraft) and Silk Milk (owned by Dean Dairies).
I think veganism has peaked, though. Last year several high profile vegans quit using the term. They seem to think it’s become some kind of "club" that people want to join for the "status". Some of those people have started eating meat again, some haven’t.
Plus the suggestion that 1% of people are vegan is ridiculous. The vegetarian population in the USA is about 2-2.5% and about .05% of those are vegan. India probably has the highest number of vegetarians and they’re a very unhealthy country. I’d guess the UK or the US has the next highest group. But asserting that 1% of the US or world’s population is vegan is just laughable.
How many people are vegetarian in UK? What in general other people, society, think about them?
Monday, January 16th, 2012I’m vegetarian and I live in Italy. I’m really shocked that here people can’t understand my choose! Everybody always tell me :"How do you do? what do you eat!!?" Here is strange, I never met anyone who think like me, someone vegetarian like me… do you dedicate there some places vegetarian and vegan (for ex.shops, restaurants, services) for people who made this choose ?
well im in australia and people always say the same old crap to me, how do you live without chicken and kfc?
hows life without bacon?
if the world ended and there was only grilled steaks on the floor and nothing else would you eat it?
it is bad to be veggie because your killing plants!
you wont get protein!
stop being so fussy!
you know what i tell these stupid annoying people?
go f*** yourself haha no i dont i just say, and???
then i educate them
stupid people need education so i give it to them, i tell them about meat industries and why they are wrong, then i say but i dont care if you eat meat and dairy so please dont care if i dont!
they still dont get it haha, i guess the stupid stay stupid and you just cant fix them! haha
bye
Vegans and Society pt.2 (Video Response to ‘Tara Andvik is Not a Monster’) #33
Sunday, January 15th, 2012
Got caught up in a discussion on someone’s FB page and it inspired me to do this video. Am I suddenly pro-animal torture when I’m nice to a meat-eater or a hunter? Do I condone killing of animals just because I talk to a hunter? Am I a “bad” vegan because I do not allow my life to be filled with venom, aggression and attack?
